Unicorns feature in locations within Edinburgh Castle, and muched loved by visitors. The Unicorn is the National Animal of Scotland. European literature and art describes the unicorn as a white horse-like animal with a long straight spiralling horn with grooves. It also has cloven hooves, and sometimes a goat’s beard. It is said that the horn had the power to render poisoned water pure and able to heal sickness. The tusks of the narwhal were passed off and sold as a unicorn horns during the medieval times.
